Chapter 17
“About time you and Keys stopped playing and sent Cash to meet his maker,” Tika told Mar as they drove home from Camille’s house.
“I wish we could take the credit for doing that shit, but it wasn’t us. Keys think the nigga hiding and that punk Dutch with him because he hasn’t returned any of Keys calls.” The night Mar got into with Cash, they got the green light to end his life and all of a sudden he came up missing. This was why he never trusted Dutch. Even though Keys was using him to keep track of Cash, making him think he was on the team. But Mar felt like Dutch may have been doing the same thing. Mar kept his eyes on the road as he thought about the question he had for Tika. He wasn’t no slow dude and knew the changes of her body and he knew her cycle.
“So how far along are you?”
“Huh,” Tika answered, caught off guard by his question.
“Huh hell, you heard exactly what I asked you girl.”
“I don’t know yet.”
“When do you plan on finding out? I already know you’re late.” Mar quickly peeked over at her to see her facial expression.
“Eww, let me find out you keeping track of my cycle. But I guess I will call the doctor tomorrow and make an appointment.”
“Yea do that and I know one thing it better be mine,” Mar added.
Tika gave him the side eye. She could not believe he came out of his mouth like that. He knew damn well he was the only one she was messing around with. “What did you just say to me?” Tika wanted to slap his ass but since he was driving she kept her hands to herself.
Mar laughed. “Chill out, I’m joking. I know that’s all me inside of you.”
“That’s not funny Damar,” Tika told him. She still didn’t know how he felt about having kids so she had to ask one question. “Do you want me to keep it if I am pregnant?”
Good thing no cars was behind Mar, because he slammed on his brakes, causing the car to come to a complete stop. He put the car in park and looked at Tika as if she had lost her damn mind.
“What type of question is that? Why wouldn’t I want you to keep my child?”
Tika didn’t answer. She was embarrassed that she asked him that stupid question. She felt Mar place his hand on top of hers, causing her to finally look at him.
“I didn’t know how you felt that way about having kids,” she answered.
“I would never ask you to get rid of my child. I am not that type of dude.”
“Sorry I asked, Tika said softly.”
Mar took his hand and rubbed the side of her face and in a serious stern tone, he said, “Don’t ask no stupid shit like that again. I know my lifestyle is not the best but I would never tell you to get rid of something as special as a child because of it.
